i remember one hill in Wales that had seven false summits. Each time as you approached what looked like the crest, it fell away to reveal another dip and another higher crest.
From the relatively low vantage point of a Mars rover, we may be seeing the same thing here, so be prepared for a longer wait till we get to the real crest and see the Mother of All Mars Panoramas.
