You can say a lot about the roads connecting the cities of the Sunni Triangle, but the Ho Chi Minh Trail it ain't. You aren't going to be seeing hundreds of insurgents sneaking from town to town on these open desert roads with impunity. A lot of them can move around hidden among civilians, but they have to move a lot of ammo as well.
Most of the insurgencies in each town seem to be home-bred, not people who slipped out of Fallujah and are fighting elsewhere.
This is a campaign, not a single battle, but it can be won.
