I wrote, The thing that really struck me was that all of the images were of the Shuttle's top. It seems no one thought to look at the underside of Columbia. The resolution is high enough that they may have been able to see the damage.
My whole point was that they had the opportunity and technology to examine all of Columbia, but apparently no one thought to look at the underside of the wing where the foam struck. The images I saw were taken about 6 hours apart, so they had the opportunity to image both the top and the bottom. Did no one think of turning Columbia over or did they not want to disturb the experiments being conducted? I'd like to know.
