Something I've noticed

What's really funny is that for four years we have been hearing about Bush as the "illegitimate" president, since he came out about 500,000 short of Gore on the popular vote. That, and endless bitching about the Electoral College, and how it's an outmoded institution, and should be scrapped.

Notice how the same people--the very same people--went after Ohio with such gusto (some still are), hoping against hope that somehow Kerry would get those electoral votes, and become president. If that had happened, Kerry would have been elected despite being about 3.5 million short of Bush's popular vote count.

Think they would have complained then? Would Kerry have been an "illegitimate" president to these people, based on exactly the same considerations? Would the Electoral College still have been something to toss out? Just wondering.
