Another example

A coworker emailed me a PDF file yesterday about a recent incident in Iraq. There was a rocket attack on the 545 MP Company at Camp Liberty on October 3rd. The company is housed in a row of trailers. A 107mm rocket came to rest in a soldier's wall locker after traveling through and under 4 trailers. The PDF file has the pictures showing the points of entry and exit in each trailer.

The first picture shows a hole in a trailer wall labeled "First entry."

The secont picture shows a gouge in the ground with the label, "First exit, rocket breaks into two pieces, warhead and venturie."

The third picture shows a wall with two holes, labeled "Both pieces enter second trailer and destroy night stand."

The fourth picture shows a door blown open with a hole in it, labeled "Exit second trailer."

The fifth picture shows another damaged wall and door, labeled "Entry into trailer 3."

The sixth picture shows a big hole in a wall (might have taken out a window frame), labeled "Exit trailer 3." The next picture shows the exit view of that hole.

It's the next few photos that get really interesting. The first shows the entry point into trailer 4. That entry point is at most a foot above a soldier's bed. He was in the bed at the time. The label says, "Soldier was in this position and has a 'rub' mark from war head." The warhead missed him by inches, comes to rest in his wall locker, but doesn't explode.

I'd consider that guy pretty lucky, too.

Wish I had a way to show you the photos. The word that comes to mind is "Damn!"
