Some of these items under Fossil Fuels seem to hold out the possibility of recycling CO2 back into some form of fossil fuel. If this could be done, fossil fuels could become part of the short-term carbon cycle instead of only a carbon source.
Like the cell phone industry or the internet, I'd bet that the solution to our energy problems will come from an unexpected direction, even if it does not involve a totally new technology. Solar is almost over the hump, as are fuel cells.
