I wrote up the long story of Bonderenko's death, the coverup, and how persistent Western 'space sleuthing' embarrassed the Soviets to begin releasing information in later decades... see the chapter from my 1988 book at http://www.jamesoberg.com/usd10.html
My point: don't give THOSE guys credit for eventually stopping lying about their space program -- they were forced to, they never volunteered to do so. There are aspects of the Soviet-era space program that they still officially lie about, to this day -- e.g., Polyus-SKIF in May 1987.
Leonov began telling the full truth about his spacewalk problems only AFTER Western historians first revealed in print the inconsistencies and fabrications that he had been ordered to tell, and which he obediently continued telling until political winds changed.
