Simple way, from experience

I’ve done this a number of times, I’ve a decent collection of powwows taped live from the last couple of decades. The cassettes were getting quite worn, I wanted to save as many as possible, some of the singers are years gone.

The simplest way is to use a regular tape player, feed the ‘earphone’ output to the ‘microphone’ jack. Line in won’t work unless you have a line out on the tape player, which most do not these days. For voice recordings, such as you have it’ll work fine.

I use musicmatch free version, and record directly to mp.3, have to watch the audio levels really close. Might have to restart a couple of times until you find the sweet spot. And Tom’s right, it’s a bit time intensive, you can only do it in real time. Which means you should stay close to the work while you’re doing it.

Feynman? You lucky dog you!
