The gaps in Ubchen
It is interesting that when presented by Ubchen with ecological niches similar to those in ALH84001, the Spirit team did not examine them -
If the ALH84001 fossils hold up, then we know that a long time ago there was a life form which exploited similar gaps, but relied on sensing Mars' magnetism for spatial guidance.
