Office turning into deep freeze

Cold snap here in California, and my garage office is starting to feel like Bob Cratchit's workspace. My little Holmes heater tries, but can't quite do the job. I have a Toyotomi portable AC that does great work keeping me (and especially my computers) from frying in the summer, and I'm thinking of trading it in on a newer model that also doubles as a heat pump.

It turns out about 8000 BTUs of heat. I seem to remember you divide by about 3 to get watts which would make it the equivalent of a 2666 watt heater (!). Sounds much more efficient to me than a pure electric heater, but am I screwing up the calculation somewhere?
