Geek Speak

Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Ok, I’ve been digging on this one for a while now. It’s really starting to tick me off. Googled it every way I can think of, went through a number of different virus/trojan/mal-ware data bases and have had no luck.

I have a program that keeps trying to access the internet, even when not connected. Since I have dial-up and you have to enter the password manually and connect manually it hasn’t gotten out... yet. (Isn't being slightly paranoid rewarding?)

The app attempting connection is zpkin.exe

There are three programs with the same pre-fix zpkin.

ZPKIN.EXE-36B14A90.PF (C;\windows\prefetch) 26KB PF file
zpkin.dat (C;\windows\system32) 1KD dat file
zpkin.exe (C;\windows\system32) 50KB application

As far as I know nothing new has been installed, and I can’t find any associations for this at all.

Anyone know what it is?
