Belief verses knowledge
Given the age and vastness of the universe, I believe that life, including civilizations, almost certainly exists out there. However, as of this moment, I don't know any such thing. My belief is based in part on probability and in part on wishful thinking. However, evidence is lacking.
And for the record, I don't count UFO sitings, cow mutilations, and things like crop circles as evidence of ET.
