Just as dead.

From 1980 to 2002, over 35,000 military people died from various causes, an average of about 1,527 a year. Fathers, mothers, etc.

Of these 35,000, about 600 were due to military action or terrorist acts.

The rest are just as dead.

You have to draw some distinctions.

It's been politically useful for the Left and the media to lump military and other deaths all in together. They started doing it some months back and nobody complained. In the same way, they can trumpet the thousands of wounded, and somehow overlook the fact that half of them are returned to duty almost immediately.

Your attempt to inflate one of the least-fatal wars in human history into some kind of Dunkirk doesn't really stand up very well. Twice as many men died just on Omaha Beach as we have lost during almost two years of war in Iraq.
