I read many transcripts of DOD press briefings. I'm on an e-mail list for them. A lot of them have Rumsfeld in it. While I can't speak specifically for Pitts, it's obvious from a lot of these transcripts that a majority of reporters have as their primary goal asking the question equivalent to a knee in the balls. They want to go on the record for the national press as the owner of that knee. And extra points if the guy doubled over up front is Rumsfeld.
