Space/Science

The 2005 Clarke-Bradbury International Science Fiction competition.

Sharpen those keyboards, writers, this year the topic is "The Space Elevator"

Here's the lowdown:

2500 words to be judged upon convincing use of technology, imagination that includes innovative ideas and the ablity to think 'outside the box'*, a good structure with development of storyline, plot, characters, skill with clarity of expression, style, degree of realism, and finally, a convincing depiction of the space elevator. The deadline is February 28, 2005.

I read about it here at SpaceDaily, but I didn't see anything about where to send the thing, either in the article or via the links at the bottom. Not like I'm liable to enter, but who knows, maybe the muse will inspire me.

*In this case, thinking outside the elevator.
