Predicting future consequences

We can't. Those with religious faith in this year's new and improved computer models, the one with all the bugs out, really this time, really, are doomed to fail. Too much non-linearity. Too much great attractor chaos behaviour and too little data. It's uncomputable, for now.

This does NOT mean that we ignore the reality of global warming but it does mean that we are headed into uncharted territory. Just like we've always been.

It is wise for us to reduce greenhouse gass emissions in a serious effort, something we seem politically unable to do effectively. It's unwise to destabalize our economies in the process of doing so, an action that would inhibit our ability to deal with the real future emergencies, yet unperceived.
