OK - I am very careful about downloading stuff off the net, I am NOT so good about keeping my virus software current, and leaving my computer on my cable modem connected for weeks at a time....
I have noticed my internet browsing getting slower and after leaving home for a few days (with my computer on and hooked onto the cable modem) I tried to browse the web- it was slower than ever- bringing up a HZ message took over a minute. I looked at the task manager and saw a new program.... "Backweb Agent"
I looked it up (slowly since my browsing ability was nearly crippled) and found it was a piece of shit adware I never asked for- I looked up an adware removal tool.... I had previously done this using online tools but this time I actuall bought one- It detected a huge amount of ad ware, mostly annoying cookies, but many others that were more insidious- stuff that modifies your registry, and updates itself without asking and tracks your browsing...
I had the program delete all the spyware and adware and my browser at home is nearly as fast as my work computer...
I NEVER wanted this crap on my computer and I NEVER gave the anonymous bastards permission to install it on my computer, and whoever put it on my computer sure as hell NEVER notified me they were doing this!
To me this qualifies as trespassing and theft.... and leaves me with a question I have NEVER HAD ANSWERED- "WHY do this?! " what do they get out of it? THE ONLY occasion where this shitware has convinced me to spend money is when I bought the software to remove it...
what the hell is the point of this, and why isnt it a crime?
OH MY GOD!!!!
