The complete list of Time Magazine's Person of the Year...

...will reveal that, although many of the people named turn out to be heroes, this is not always the case. You can find it at http://www.time.com/time/personoftheyear/archive/stories/.

Among those named: Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin (twice), Wallis Simpson (whose achievement was causing Edward VII to abdicate -- ooooo), Nikita Khrushchev, King Faisal (for leading OPEC to cause the oil crisis of the 1970s), Ayatollah Khomeini, and Yasser Arafat (sharing the bill under the group naming, "The Peacemakers"). Bill Clinton and Kenneth Starr shared top billing in 1998, making at least one of the two less than honored for their "achievement" that year depending on your POV, and making 1998 the second year that people were named for having sex, the first being, of course, Wallis Simpson.

Twice, the Person of the Year has not been a human being. Once it was the Planet Earth, and once, the Computer.

So I'm not going to get overly excited about this "honor" for Mr. Bush. Some of his company is illustrious, but some is anonymous, some is almost forgotten, and some is notorious.
