Questions on ocean surface topography satellites...
Do their radar altimeters have the resolution to detect a wave as small as a tsunami in the deep ocean (less than five feet high, but moving at great speed). Would some form of AI be able to pick a tsunami out from surrounding wave noise by virtue of its speed and direction? If so, could this be the easiest way to set up a global warning system?
Current satellites have a narrow field of view. Could this be widened? How big a satellite and how much power would be required?
Is there an optical passive way to detect such a wave, which would not have the power requirements of radar?
