Does that mean that women have 4 sex partners (on the average, of course) between ages 20 and 50 and men have 7 encounters during that time span?
Or did they pick a bunch of people in that age group and ask them how many partners they had, and then averaged it up.
Or does "lifetime sex partners" mean a "steady" and they're not even counting one-night stands?
Or did they just interview a lot of people who married real young and remained married and faithful to their spouses for a long time.
I never gathered any statistics or conducted a survey, but if I had to make any guesses for the people in my age group, the people I knew during my bachelor days, I'd say by the time they married they had lapped those numbers several times over.
During the 70s I was in my 20s.
