The video record grows
I hope this isn't seen as overly morbid.
The numbers associated with this staggering nightmare seem abstract, but many of these videos bring it right down to a personal level. Astonishing, gut-wrenching and heartbreaking.
There was a book by Charles Pellegrino of a few years back in which he argued that a huge tsunami in the ancient (pre-ancient?) Mediterranean could easily have been perceived as a global flood, and could have served as inspiration (as it were) for the story of Noah's ark.
