Oracle puts rival Peoplesoft out of business in takover
Oracle takes over software rival PeopleSoft
Software giant Oracle has taken control of rival PeopleSoft after an 18-month takeover battle. Yesterday, Oracle said 75 percent of PeopleSoft shareholders tendered their shares. That officially puts Oracle in charge, moving it closer to closing the contentious $10.3 billion deal.
The Oracle plan is this, as I understand it: Convert ALL of Peoplesoft's clients to Oracle Financials and scrap the Peoplesoft product line entirely. I expect nearly all of Peoplesoft's employees to be let off. Fundamentally, Oracle just wanted the customer base and is throwing away the rest.
