Boston Globe review of Welcome to Mars
In an absorbing hourlong documentary produced by Mark Davis, the first phase of the mission gets off to a bad start. Spirit, which had become an ''international celebrity" from being in the news every day, stops sending back data two weeks after it lands on Mars. The scientists work around the clock for several days trying to reestablish contact. They finally do, but the rover keeps sending back the same meaningless information. The pressure is on to fix the problem before Opportunity reaches Mars.
