That's awesome.

I wonder how many teachers would be suprised (or even blown away) by the activities of their former students.

As someone who was never much interested in school until post-High School, I can bet that some of my teachers would be shocked at where I've taken my life and career...

Looking back, some of my teachers were very good: Very inspiring people who possessed an intangible skill that enabled them to challenge even those students who didn't really want to be challenged, and make the challenge interesting (if not fun). They made school interesting, and in hindsight you can tell that they really cared about the students and their futures. Unfortuatly however, those teachers tended to be few and far between in my experience.

For most of the teachers I had growing up, you could tell that it was just a job. They might as well have been working with kids while managing the local burger joint. For them it was a daily grind...Nothing more and nothing less... That was unfortunate, because both they and the students had so much to gain, and a teacher can have a very positive impact (or an extreemly detrimental impact) on a child's future.

Teaching is a tough job, but it has its rewards for those who know where to find them. It sounds like you know where that place is.
