Another Beagle Proposal On The Table
According to this Colin Pillinger is lobbying for funds to get a couple of 'Beagle 2 Evolution' craft to land on Mars as part of the European Aurora project. The spacecraft would remain attached to the orbiter until a suitable target and time is established whereupon it would detach from the satellite and land using a US 'Viking' system. Seems to me that such a plan would require retro-rockets and internal guidance and navigation.
