An opportunity for the US to show its human and humanitarian side. And we are doing so. American visibility, the uniforms, the helicopters, the legions of aid workers all are helping to construct a favorable image in this devastated part of the world.
Apparently it takes a monumental tragedy for the world to see our response to our fellow man. And our response has been positive and visible (as it should be).
Of all the things this administration has done, it has finally found a way to move into the positive column.
In this case Americans were allowed to be American and Bush has made sure it is shown off. Nothing wrong with any of this--so far.
I am proud of the world response, and proud that my country has taken a leadership role in that response.
