Looking at the links for the article I was surprised that 10 meter size asteroids hit the atmosphere about once every decade. That's about the size of a decent size house. The links say that up to about 30-50 meters wide, these asteroids usually break up in the atmosphere.
The military detects such atmospheric detonations from satellites.
