Submariners must have nerves of steel
Can you imagine driving around in your car at 35 mph with the windows blacked out and your only means of navigation a GPS display? I'm surprised there hasn't been more accidents.
Given the Cold War is over, I wonder if it wouldn't be prudent for the Navy to use active sonar with its submarines? They could revert to passive sonar during military exercises to maintain wartime readiness.
