I admit that I've had trouble trying to make sense of the plots throughout the seasons. A lot of that seems to be inattention on my part. Asking for clarification (or worse, making a statement that demonstrates not "getting" or remembering parts of the plot) earns me an eye-roll from my daughter.

Some of the characters do such stupid things that I typically root for them to be killed. If they intend Jack's daughter to come back this season, for instance, I will hope for her early demise. The previous president was an obvious idiot, most of the time. His wife, an incompetent villain (and inexplicable - why did she do the whacky stuff she did???).
