Meteorite Or Solution To Gary's Puzzle?

<ahref="http://www.space.com/missionlaunches/mars_object_050113.html">Article on Opportunity's "Meteorite"

Folks I find this coincidence pretty unbelievable. A meteorite made of metal unlike anything else seen in two Earth-robot years just happens to be near another object from space? I'd say the odds are far greater that this is some melted piece of metal from the rover mission. Could something have come loose not critical to mission success that caused the instability Gary mentioned earlier? I would have thought a good space reporter would have thought to ask such a question.
