ESA presser ends -- strong signal
ESA press conference just ended.
They expect to detect from signal when Huygens is on the surface, and then when the signal stops due
to battery exhaustion. No word so far on either event. The first two hours of parachute descent were
observed from Green Bank before Titan 'set', and the signal was very strong (so strong that science
data was detected on the carrier), and the Doppler profile was almost exactly as expected for a
nominal descent.
Big news expected any time: indications from Parks ('The Dish") of landing and post-landing survival.
Three observatories that were watching for any visual sign of entry fireball report nothing detected.
