I actually get the creeps when I think how the mainstream media had a near-monopoly on information flow for decades in this country. To get a transcript of an interview, you had to write to the news organization, and pay money (I did this a few times). Documents crucial to a story were never presented to the general public.
IMO, the internet is to the idea of news flow what printing the Bible in English or German was to organized religion.
