Success, of sorts

It works. The barebones kit works!! Credit good instructions.

I am typing this on my new computer from the garage, over a wireless network. This is a cheap barbones kit, $300 for an Athlon 64 3400 + CPU, case, power supply, motherboard, keyboard, mouse and speakers. Added 2 HDs, 1 meg RAM, super-whiz-bang video card, and the wireless card, and bingo - - - .

Fired up the second try, had a jumper set wrong the first.

The wireless network was a one-punch setup.

Works like a smooth charm on my one game - virtual reality is just around the corner.

Not a perfect setup, can't see the SATA HD. When it can, I'll load Linux on that one.

Would recommend this to anyone wanting a cheap, blindingly fast computer. My setup came from Tigerdirect. Great way to go, at least so far.
