Blue fingers

I've been hearing a number of people saying that Americans should color a finger blue to show solidarity with Iraqis. I can see how this might be a cool idea, but somehow to me it would also feel a bit like wearing a military ribbon you never earned. Nobody ever threatened to behead my children if I went to the polls. It takes balls of brass to wear a blue finger in Iraq right now.

How do others feel about this idea?
