Big difference, imho.
Read some Sharia. I have. The difference is dramatic. No one I am aware of wants implement the Old Testament laws on society. Sharia makes those look pretty easy going.
And AL, even if they do re-elect the Judge, will never be close to a theocracy. Sharia puts mullahs (priests) in position of veto over democracy and elected officials and gives them in effect direct rule.
As redneck as AL is, I think it is a big stretch to say that it is evenin the same direction as Sharia, much less close to it.
