Not everyone who voted for Bush is in favor of Republican stands on everything. Some of them, I dare suggest, voted for him simply because there's a war on.
Not everyone who did not vote for Kerry did so not because of an overall opposition to positions taken by the Democratic Party, nor a personal anathema to Sen. Kerry. Some opposed one position, and that one was more important to them than all the others. I can think of one person who did exactly that, but who also said that the one good thing about dying before the Inaugural was not having to put up with Bush for four more years.
I find especially amusing all the salvos coming from our good friends on the Right telling liberals how to be in order to be better liberals. [sarc] I'm very sure that they have in mind to help us improve our ability to win elections in future contests with them, because deep down they know they're wrong and they want to be defeated.[/sarc]
Give all the power to one party, and eventually everything that goes wrong will become that party's fault. The Republicans played that card against the Democrats. Eventually it will come back to bite them. I only hope it happens while we still have an effective Bill of Rights.
Have you read economist Paul Krugman's column about privatizing Social Security and Dean Baker's "no economist left behind" challenge? [Many Unhappy Returns, 01 Feb 2005] That's interesting too.
Off Topic » in reply to This is pretty good, too.
Eventually the Right will go too far.
