Fingers crossed.

There's still a constitution to be written by the newly-elected representatives that also has to be voted on, and then a leadership to be elected under that constitution. A long and rocky road yet, but if both the Sunnis and the newly-empowered Shiites can get past their individual grudges, they have a good chance.

And of course, the insurgents aren't going to go quietly. But they may go eventually.

When was the last casualty in Afghanistan, a year or so further down the road than Iraq? Heck, when was the last major attack in Afghanistan? The most recent casualty I was able to track down was this one.
