I believe(?) SCSI is still the fastest

If you're running a multi-tasking operating system like Linux then you should use SCSI. I believe(?) SCSI at 320 mb/sec is faster than SATA (please correct me if I'm wrong about this). SCSI's big advantage is the SCSI controller has its own processor and requires minimal CPU involvement to do I/O. This is clearly obvious under Linux. When I'm recompiling the kernel, I'll locate the source code on an IDE disk and have /tmp on the SCSI disk. The system ends up banging both disks at the same time during compilation. My system also has two CPUs based upon an SMP mother board. Dual processor systems have a much smoother operation when running a big job in the background.
