The last I heard, the first flight of Falcon I was scheduled for the end of this month. That update said "will continue right up until we launch in a few months", which suggests the attempt has been pushed back again. Oh, well, better to take some time and get it right. RUDs (rapid unscheduled disassemblies), as he called them (love the term!), look spectacular but don't exactly inspire confidence in customers.
SpaceX is attempting to do something very difficult - building a viable and cost effective booster (actually, a family of boosters) using private funds. As he said, "Having seen us go through the wringer to make this work (and it’s not over yet), I have a lot of respect for anyone that has tried to develop a serious launch vehicle."
Yes, folks, it IS rocket science. Go, SpaceX!
