"I took an oath of office to uphold the constitution and laws of the state of Washington. I can't invent it as I go along."

Yeah, that's what the courts are for, like in Florida, New Jersey, and elsewhere, where election laws were pretty much "waived" when necessary.

Seriously, though, this election needs to have a stake driven through its heart already. Come on, Republicans. Come back in the next election and fight another day. This kind of electoral second-guessing has set a crappy enough precedent in the past four years.

And I'd have to say Reed has been showing a lot of class in this controversy.
