More like polywater
For those old enough to remember, the polywater "event" began with some analyses which were misinterpreted. Then followed many (~500) theoretical analyses, papers, etc and hysterical press announcing "end of earth" if it escaped the laboratory, etc. Finally some decent analytical work showed it was all dirty water and the story died. I fear much MArs research resides (or will) in the same bucket.
