I was proud of the way the Navy integrated in 1968.
When the rest of society seemed on the verge of urban warfare, the Navy quietly and methodically did the job. My first Division Petty Officer was black, mean and ornery, but a superb seaman and scrupulously fair. I have no doubt this problem will be solved as well, it is intrinsically a much easier one, provided it doesn't get politicized.
