The frustrations of a space fan

Ok, I'm a lifelong space nut and the greatest thing outside of attending a manned spaceflight launch is, IMO, meeting a Moonwalker. (Current active astronauts are numerous and available here and there and it has happened quite often).

Because of this passion, I joined an egroups with other spacenuts, with the purpose of exchanging information on TV programs, space related events in our neighborhood and astronaut meeting opportunities. We are very good friends, now. It worked fantastically in 2002!
This year, we had a gathering in january and I mentioned the upcoming event in Brussels. Unrelated, I also volunteered to perform some tasks for february 16th at my workplace and planned to go to Brussels on saturday 12th.

The thursday before the event starts, a friend from Paris emailed me that on wednesday 16th, 2 or 3 moonwalkers will be in Brussels!!! I sent all kinds of messages to various friends and to the egroup and checked here too. I learned it must be through an invitation and it was too late to get one and I just couldn't ask at the last minute for a day off from work (because it would also disturb colleagues).
The 16th passed, the 17th I got back from work and checking the emails, discovered several of my friends from the egroups did take the risk , went to Brussels and did get inside and attend the conference and saw the astronauts (Jack and Buzz too) !!! It turns out that many of those invited did not actually go there and this left room for the last minute visitors!
They thanked me for the early warnings and will soon show the pictures.
I can only blame myself for not taking the risk of asking for a day off (the friday or monday before) and for not realizing sponsors wouldn't be able to attract so many guests and there'd be room enough for late arrivals.
Here are my pictures from the Earth and Space Week in Brussels. There's a great 1 scale model of the Huygens probe.
