All crimes are trending down, and especially violent crimes.
Maybe its demographics. Most crimes are committed by young people, and the population is growing older.
...then again, it might be that the percentage of white people is declining. Perhaps blacks and latinos tend to commit less crimes than anglo-saxons do. At any rate, that's what my mother used to say. 8)
