re: The theme of life

Mars is sure a place where life (as we believe we know) couldhave existed or still exists.
This is something we've been asking ourselves before Mariner 4 and even until now, but with variations on the same theme: the theme of life.
I can't help but think it's our constant need to find life elsewhere (and especially on Mars) that's affecting our judgment.
Anthropocentrism very much alive.

What I'd love to see one day is the discovery of a process that is not life as we know it, but something completely "alien" we start to understand (and we have no idea about today but is very easy to spot if only we recognized it).
