Hey Tom, Haven't you got one of those car engines that burns water?
Aren't you an "insider" in the global military-industrial-space conspiracy?
I get one because I work in the oil industry and we won't let the rest of the world have them or it would wreck our sales... :-)
That aside - I had a glass of whiskey the other day - Bowmore cask strength (56% alcohol). I added sime ice and blow me if the ice cubes didn't sink! At 56%, apparently alcohol solutions are less dense than ice!
The ice melted fast and formed an interface between a dilute lower layer and an unaltered upeer layer. The ice floated on this interface, and the interface rose to the surface steadily, carrying the ice with it.
A neat party trick...
I tried Standard Bowmore (43%) but the ice already floated. So the chnageover is somewhere around 50%.
Anyone else game to join this experiment? - supply your own overproof vodka or whatever and share the experience with us...
