The birth of a star

Spaceflightnow

Scientists have pierced through a dusty stellar nursery to capture the earliest and most detailed view of a collapsing gas cloud turning into a star, analogous to a baby's first ultrasound.

Fascinating process taking 10,000 to 100,000 years for development from a -400 degree stellar cloud producing 100 million degree fusion reactions.

I guess if you're going to live for 10 billion years (much shorter for the giants) you have to endure the violent/lenthly birth process.
