Even in Occupied France, many people supported the Nazi occupation.
Many French thought the Germans were building a better/stronger/more influential Europe, so they supported Hitler.
Why would Lebanon be any different Visa Vise Syria? After all, Assad might be the next Saladin since the USA saw to it that the Sadam thing fissled out.
