I feel the same. I'm reminded of an experience working with the ancient coin collection in Goettingen. I was presented with this small, poor quality ancient bronze coin of miserable style. It had the Greek
inscription:
TIBEPIOY KAICAPOC
Which translates to "Tiberius Caesar". The catalog indicated the coin was a Jewish prutah struck in Judea during Pontius Pilate's administration. While holding this wretched coin, I thought to myself: "Cool! Jesus might of bought a loaf of bread with this coin".
That sort of connection with history is why ancient coin collecting is irresistible.
