I think this image shows the STS-11 first-MMU flight, in 1983.
Pinky Nelson and Ox Van Hoften did untethered EVA's a few months after Bruce McCandless and Bob Stewart did, and the following year (1984), Joe Allen and Dale Gardner also performed untethered EVA's to retrieve stranded commsats.
